This Civil War fort dates back to the 1850s and witnesses have reported seeing apparitions of a woman in chains wandering around the fields, and a group of spectral riders that appear on the Cavalry Parade Field. One is said to dismount, while the others ride away. Inside the Custer House Museum, visitors have claimed to have heard stomping boots, and have said that a teddy bear in a child's room moves to different spots on its own during the night. Another story involves a woman who died of cholera while living on the grounds in the 1800s, her ghost is said to appear many times demanding to be let into her house. She has also been spotted near the old trolley station.
