A former librarian is said to haunt the Hutchinson Public Library. Her name was Ida Day Holzapfel, and she died in a car accident on her way to her first day at another library. She began working at the library in 1915 and died in 1954. Her apparition has been spotted, and has even talked to a staff member in the basement of the library.
