This cemetery is located right next to an abandoned church and is believed to be extremely haunted, and is even been called a gateway to Hell. There are a number of legends surrounding the cemetery, some that over 100 years old. Satan himself is rumored to visit here twice a year, and Devil workship and witchcraft are mentioned along with this cemetery's eerie stories. There was a rumor that the original name of the town was "Skull." Witnesses have claimed to have been grabbed here by unseen hands, or suffered from memory loss and other maladies.

  • Entering the cemetery

We went there today. The locals are extremely aggressive and physically threatened us. It is not infact open to the public. The "care taker" told us we were not allowed to be there if we are not family or related. We contacted Douglas sheriff department, under the advisement if the gate is closed do not enter (they do not physically lock the gate). This includes the drive for cars to go through and the walking path. Didn't get to experience anything, we did not even make it up the hill before we were being threatened and they took pictures of our car.

  • Local Legend, that's about it

I've been to Stull Cemetery a number of times and done some research on it. There's a number of urban legends that surround the cemetery, the most common is the gateway to hell. What started the legend was an article published in the KU student newspaper. It was a well-written piece and definitely worth a read if you like this place. Personally, I've never experienced/seen, or known anyone who has experienced/seen anything here. The only thing you may experience is a ticket or a pair of handcuffs if you trespass, especially after dark. The locals and the police heavily watch the area because of the high level of vandalism that goes on. If you must see it for yourself, go during the day when the gate is open. The old church is now a pile of bricks in the NE corner of the lot, not much to see. There are some old graves, but nothing really noteworthy marker or cemetery wise. Just an old boneyard, not even a creepy one.
